2022 SPRING VIRTUAL MEETING

We cordially invite you to attend ASNY’s Spring Virtual Meeting, which will take place virtually on Monday, June 27, 2022, from 1:50 –5:40 pm.

The meeting will include a professionalism and general session, and 2 breakout rooms with 3 different session options. Presentation and Zoom login details to be shared closer to the date.

2:50 - 3:40 pm: How Will Climate Change Impact Human Health?

Heat waves, cold spells, floods, and storms have been stressing health care systems worldwide  for decades if not for entire generations. And, it's likely going to become more of a concern. From the direct effects of temperature to the indirect ones on air quality, from the chronic effects of heat waves and droughts to the acute ones from floods and hurricanes, and from the impacts on physical well-being to the ones affecting our mental state, Dr. Peter Sousounis will address this question regarding the many ways that climate change is expected to impact human morbidity and mortality by later this century

This session will cover various aspects of the health insurance industry including trends in provider billing, claims administration and fraud. This will examples on how healthcare billing companies are optimizing revenue and the impact on the consumer.   This session will also include various aspects of professionalism and ethics for actuaries.  This session will benefits actuaries working in healthcare as well as all individuals (consumers) receiving medical bills from healthcare providers as a covered member. 

Session 1C: How Multi-Cancer Early Detection test can save lives, and what role can life insurers play
