2021 Virtual ASNY Annual Meeting + In-person networking

We are very excited for this year's ASNY Spring Meeting being held virtually on Wednesday, November 17th.

The meeting will commence with a general professionalism session followed by breakout sessions. At the breakout sessions, an accomplished group of industry leaders will present on a broad range of topics of interest including actuarial and IT partnerships, actuarial governance, and evolving regulations.

We are conducting the meeting via Zoom. Video tutorials for joining a Zoom Meeting can be found at the following link (https://support.zoom.us/hc/en-us/articles/206618765-Zoom-Video-Tutorials). Pre-downloading the latest Zoom client is recommended. You can download the client prior to the meeting using the following link (https://zoom.us/download#client_4meeting). Breakout sessions will be managed through Breakout Rooms. Zoom 5.3.0 or later is needed to self-select Breakout Rooms. Each participant will be able to choose which breakout room to join and can move through breakout rooms at any time. A meeting link will be sent to all participants prior to the meeting.

          Underwriting data sources and tools continue to emerge and evolve as the life insurance industry moves to make the customer experience easier and more engaging. The presenters will address what we know and what we still need to determine about the risk assessment effectiveness and the protective value of new and emerging data sources in the context of life insurance underwriting. They will discuss underwriting tool trends over the past several years including the impact of COVID-19. They will also explore the impact on pricing processes and some issues to consider in light of these new underwriting data sources, tools and processes. 
  • Modernized Source of Earnings and LDTI Forecasting Analytics

          Hear about modernized reporting capabilities and technical analysis, which is enabled through access to deep actuarial and financial planning data. The webcast will focus on a real post-Long Duration Targeted Improvements (LDTI) source of earnings analysis and on a high-level LDTI forecasting capability

    • Ways in which insurance firms have shifted to absorb the shocks from COVID-19 and react to the persistent declines in profitability and earnings

          Mergers and acquisitions are dominating headlines across the insurance industry for a number of reasons. This session will open with an introduction to M&A to layout the basics, following with a deep dive into the active market. You’ll have the opportunity to hear from two actuaries discuss their experience across a number of transactions and fields.

6:00 - 9:00 pm:  In-person networking session
Immediately following the virtual Annual Meeting, ASNY is continuing the festivities with an in-person cocktail reception from 6 - 9 pm in midtown Manhattan, to add an in-person component to the virtual conference. This free event is graciously being hosted by Pauline Reimer and her colleagues at Pryor Associates Executive Search and is open to all actuaries, not just those attending the conference. 


If you have been a past member, but have not yet paid dues for this year, membership dues must be paid first before you will receive the reduced cost for this event.

 Cancellation Policy

  • Cancellation of any individual's event registration must be made two (2) weeks or more prior to an event to be eligible for a refund. All requests are subject to $35 service fee to cover administration costs and email must be received prior to the two week deadline. Cancellations made after the two-week deadline will not be honored, however, all individuals are allowed to transfer their registration at any time to another individual at their organization at no cost by sending an email to ASNY representatives at the email below. Any transfer should be communicated to ASNY as soon as it is known. 
  • ASNY reserves the right to cancel any program if conditions warrant. In the rare event of such cancellation, registration fees will be refunded in full. We are not responsible for any discounted airfares or hotel penalties that an attendee may incur due to cancellation.
