We are very excited for this year's ASNY Annual Meeting being held on Monday, November 25th at the New York Marriott Downtown Hotel.

The meeting will commence with a general professionalism session followed by breakout sessions. At the breakout sessions an accomplished group of industry leaders will present on a broad range of topics of interest including actuarial and IT partnerships, actuarial governance, and evolving regulations.

This session will give an overview of the accounting standards and help you present your company’s financial results in the best light.

  • Mortality Improvement Trends & Impacts to Life Insurance

    Recent reports from the SOA have noted a slowdown in mortality improvement in the U.S. population. But how does this trend translate to the life insurance population and how are carriers reacting?     Life PBR around the corner: industry insights and updates on key topics. The session will provide the audience with an industry overview and will expand on the main updates from the 2020 version of VM-20.   • Accelerated Underwriting and the Actuarial Control Cycle

    Accelerated Underwriting (AUW) programs are quickly becoming the new paradigm for risk selection in almost every life insurance company. This session will dive into how we can best structure AUW programs for long term success, including reflecting AUW in Pricing and implementing iterative risk exposure monitoring tools.

    The implementation of U.S.-GAAP LDTI and IFRS17 impacts the end-to-end process from sourcing of data through financial reporting and analytics. This session discusses the degree of impact across various process components.

          
  • Assumptions Governance

    This session will cover current industry best practices for assumption governance, considerations under emerging regulatory and accounting frameworks, and how to address common pitfalls in the assumption management process.
     
  • VM 21 Methodology & Updates

    As we moved closer to the VM-21 phase in period, it is important to know the modeling and financial impacts. This session will cover the updates to variable annuity asset and liability methodology, along with a comparison to the current regime and general information regarding the new NAIC standards.
     
  • Understanding Blockchain for Trusted Products (In Partnership with the SOA Predictive Analytics & Futurism section)
          
    Truman Esmond | AAIS
                
    Blockchain as a foundational technology  - like relational databases or the Internet - is taking hold.  The many emerging applications related to the development, maintenance and the increasingly real-time delivery of Insurance are taking shape, and the role of actuaries is becoming clearer.  Explore the role of actuaries in shaping and leveraging blockchain to enable the future of insurance and risk management tools and accountability.

Cancellation Policy

  • Cancellation of any individual's event registration must be made two (2) weeks or more prior to an event to be eligible for a refund. All requests are subject to $50 service fee to cover administration costs and email must be received prior to the two week deadline. Cancellations made after the two week deadline will not be honored, however, all individuals are allowed to transfer their registration at any time to another individual at their organization at no cost by sending an email to ASNY representatives at the email below. Any transfer should be communicated to ASNY as soon as it is known. 
  • ASNY reserves the right to cancel any program if conditions warrant. In the rare event of such cancellation, registration fees will be refunded in full. We are not responsible for any discounted airfares or hotel penalties that an attendee may incur due to cancellation.
